PIRATE RADIO is great fun, has a great cast & great music, and serves as a reminder that Phillip Seymour Hoffman needs to be in more movies!

SPLICE is the sci-fi camp classic of the year — a twisted love child of FRANKENSTEIN, THE FLY, JURASSIC PARK and SPECIES! Ridiculous brillance!
Y’know, maybe I’ve already burnt myself out on these hardcore horror films, because aside from the scenes with the tongue and the nipples (ouch), ICHI THE KILLER isn’t doing much for me.
I made it through all eight hours of THE STAND and I gotta say, it’s much better than I remembered (cheesy special effects and all… Flagg in demon form and the Hand of God, oy). Would love to see it remade as an HBO series or something someday, but for now, it’s a pretty worthy adaptation and by far the best Stephen King made-for-TV miniseries!
David Cronenberg at the height of his powers + Jeremy Irons in a dual role as f’d up twin gynecologists = twisted, brilliant DEAD RINGERS.
MICMACS, the latest from AMELIE director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, is fantastique!
The torture scenes in AUDITION are rough… but the part where she vomits into a bowl and feeds it to the dismembered guy nearly did me in, it was so gross. Bravo, Miike!
BLACK DYNAMITE is some funny shite!
I’ve always been a Michael Douglas fan, and SOLITARY MAN reminded him why. Standout performance in a movie loaded with great acting & dialogue! (BTW, anyone else get all disoriented when they see Jenna Fischer outside of THE OFFICE? I do!)
Nothing in GET HIM TO THE GREEK is as funny as Dracula: The Musical from FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, but it still has its share of funniness.
